PostHeaderIcon Is there anything tried and tested that can stop snoring?

the reason I ask is my dad snores really loudly so my mum doesn’t get much sleep and she tries to come and sleep in my room which disrupts my sleep and I end up on the couch!!

He probably has something called Sleep Apnea which causes cessation of breathing while asleep causing you to snore. He should go to his doctor and have his doctor order a sleep study and they can prescribe a machine called a CPap or BiPap which will stop the snoring. I used to snore alot and i would feel tired all day but since using this machine, I do not snore anymore and I feel 100% better. An added bonus of this is that if he is overweight he will lose weight and his blood pressure will drop because his heart doesn’t have to work as hard. I have lost 50 lbs(21 kilos) since I have used this. Hope this helps.

PostHeaderIcon Is there a way to stop snoring?

My friend snores terribly and she really gets embarrassed about it to the extent that she would not allow me to sleep over at her place. She isn’t fat and has a healthy weight. Is there a solution to snoring?

The best snoring product is the Stop Snore Ring
It’s an acupressure ring worn on the little finger so there’s no embarrassment it’s highly effective and a one off purchase
My partner wears one so I know it works and it has helped her sinuses
There are hundreds of endorsements on their website

PostHeaderIcon Does the sleep pillow work that prevents snoring or is it just a waste of money?

I am pregnant 30 weeks and really need to sleep in my bed but my husband snores like a freight train. I ask him to sleep on the couch sometimes but he is a big guy and the couch is to small {It’s actually funny watching him trying to sleep there} and we really can’t afford to buy another couch right now. Well I want to sleep with him but he is loud I mean really loud. I saw a commerical for a pillow that helps snoring but it was expensive is it worth the money? I really need to sleep and the couch is not working for me either

It’s not necessarily a waste of money- but it will only work if your husband has the specific problem that the pillow says it can fix. For example if your husband’s snoring because his chin is down on his neck then it may help, but if he’s snoring because of his soft palate, it’s not really going to do much. :-/
The pillow will probably not do much I’m sorry to say- your best options are to get him to a sleep clinic or get your own bedroom (it’s not going to ruin your marriage, on the contrary!)
Have you considered even some kind of foldable cot or a memory foam topper for the couch just to get you through the pregnancy? :-/

I wish you the best! Good luck with this hard to fix problem.

PostHeaderIcon How do I stop snoring?

I’ve been snoring since I was younger and I’m not fat and I don’t know why I do. I’ve tried to stop by propping up my pillows and breathing through only either my mouth or my nose. But nothing works. Can someone please help me stop this habit? I’ve always ended up saying something like I’m sick but I can’t keep on using that excuse.
I do have allergies.

It makes sense to try some simple non-invasive treatments first to see if they will reduce or prevent your snoring.

Sleep on your side
Elevate the head of your bed
Limit alcohol and medications
Clear your nasal passages

If you snore:

With your mouth closed: a problem with the tongue is probably the culprit

With your mouth open: your snoring is likely related to the tissues in your throat

Only on your back: your snoring is probably mild – improved sleep habits and lifestyle changes may be effective cures … Do you sleep on your back? Try the “tennis ball trick”: sleep with a tennis ball (or any ball of approximately the same size) attached to the back of your pajama top. (You can sew a pocket or safety-pin a sock to the back of the pajama top, then put a tennis ball in it.) The tennis ball is uncomfortable if you lie on your back, and you will respond by turning on your side. Soon you will develop side-sleeping as a habit and not need the tennis ball.

In all sleep positions: your snoring is more severe and may require a more comprehensive treatment
