PostHeaderIcon How to stop a snorning husband??

My husband snores so lound and I am a light sleeper. I tried putting a fan on so it would block out the noise, but he snores way louder than the fan. We haven’t slept in the same bed together in over a year because of his snoring. If we do, I usually end up on the couch or he gets kicked all the time because I can’t sleep with him snoring. So he’s just resorted to the couch now. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my husband to stop snoring???
I’m not trying to be mean as one of you thought. I have told him over and over to come to bed, but he chooses not to. I remind him all the time I don’t care if he comes to bed. I may snore too, but it doesn’t bother him evidentially or he would’ve said something to me.

Start consulting a medical professional about the snoring. Then buy Nexcare Ear Plugs made from comfort foam.
The are absolutely the best ear plugs concerning noise blockage, and they are comfortable enough to sleep soundly.
I’m in the army and I’m constantly sleeping within earshot of some real snoring dragons! I take a pack of these earplugs everywhere I go. I’m a huge fan and they work. I owe many nights of sound sleep to them.

Maybe a mouth guard or retainer? These are things I’ve heard of. But what you should really be concerned about is WHY he snores. It could be a medical issue that if it gets worse, could turn into sleep apnea or something.

have you tired the "nose strap" that sticks to the nose and opens it up? Works on many people. I have sleep apnia..and make lots of noise. My mate just goes to the other bedroom when it starts. No big deal.

he could be fitted with a device that makes his lower jaw come slightly forward at night, so he does not snore. Talk to a Dentist or Doctor about it. It is only worn at night. Good Luck!

I think that you should go to the nearest pharmacy and have himput something on is nose bridge like one of those strips. snoring is something that a lot of people just take as restful sleeping but actually it is not very healthy.

You can buy nasal strips at the local grocery store, they really work! It wierd, but that litte strip across the nose opens the nose passage to help breath better and stops snoring! I think they are called ‘breath right’. Good luck hope you get your bed back soon! lol

I have the same problem with my husband. We have a room just off our bedroom with a foamie on the floor, a pillow and a nice blanket. Whoever can’t stand it anymore goes there to sleep. We tried antihistamines because he sounds like he’s stuffed up but they don’t work and we tried every other commercial thing you see – nothing works.

I have the same problem – my earplugs are powerless against my husband’s snoring! We sleep in separate rooms. Has your hubby seen a doctor? He might have sleep apnea. My husband doesn’t, but he’s overweight, and the dr. said that extra weight can worsen the snoring. Some people swear by the breathing strips, but they don’t seem to work for us. If your husband is overweight, he could try losing a few lbs – it might help.

    1. Get him to a sleep disorder center. There he will see a doctor, who will look at his nose to see if he needs surgery for some reason. He might have what is called a deviated septim. Did he ever get a broken nose for some reason?
    2. Try those little nose strips that keep the nasal pasages open.
    3. Turn him on his side when he snores.
    4. Wear ear plugs.
    5. Get him to loose some weight maybe. I think I read somewhere that being overweight can contribute to snoring.

You could get a sore strip for him like BreatheRight for your nose. There are also chin strips, but it won’t work if he has facial hair. There’s also SnorEnder (that might be expensive), Y-Snore (those are nose drops), SilentNite (semi adjustable snore guard), The Klearway (fully adjustable snore guard), The Snore-Aid (for people with lower teeth, but no upper teeth), and D-Snore (fully adjustable snore guard). He can also get surgery which he might need if he has sleep apnea (that’s a COMPLETE stoppage of breathing for short intervals due to this type of constriction. Hope this helps!

I am the snorer and my wife is the light sleeper. We sleep in different beds.

I did drop from 240lbs to 220lbs snoring is less, I use saline nasal rinse and mucinex DM to keep sinuses clear. I tried CPAP but was too claustrophic with the mask.

If he can sleep on his side it might help a bit.

Ask him to have a sleep study make sure it’s not apnea. If overweight have him drop the extra spare tires.

Geeze you are a mean one…his snoring could be due to a medical problem. An upper respritory ailment, maybe he should see a doctor. Ten to one YOU snore too becuase most people DO snore to a certain extent.
